1. Do Your Homework And Have Fun – Planning your honeymoon can be one of the most enjoyable parts of wedding planning. Talk to your fiancée, identify what is important to both of you in your honeymoon, list potential destinations and do some research. Then call one of our professional Travel Advisors and collaborate with them to find the perfect honeymoon for both of you.
2. Start Planning Early – Unless you plan on delaying your honeymoon the best time to start planning is as soon as you set a wedding date. There are many advantages to planning early especially if you plan on getting married at a popular time of year. The best suites at the best resorts sell first. You can often lock in an early booking discount with a small deposit. If the price goes down prior to the final payment date we can normally fix it. However, if you wait and the price goes up, there is nothing we can do.
3. Use A Professional Travel Advisor – Are you going to try and bake your wedding cake yourself? Or ask a professional for help? Most honeymooners believe that it costs more to use a Travel Professional to help them plan their honeymoon. However, that is not the case. When compared to reputable websites or dealing with the hotel, resort or cruise line directly, the price you will get from a professional Travel Advisor should be the same or less. The professional Travel Advisor is more likely to know about specials and incentives that a honeymoon couple may be entitled to. They may also be able to help honeymooners avoid some of the pitfalls that can victimize “Do It Yourselfers” and ruin a honeymoon. A professional Travel Advisor can save you money as well as time and give you the confidence to know that the details of your honeymoon have been handled.
4. Be Careful Not To Penny Pinch – Price should not be your sole consideration when planning your honeymoon. You're not going to remember how much money you saved, but you will remember your experience -- good or bad. No matter what type of honeymoon package your choose, you will spend a good portion of your time in your room or cabin. Make it special -- make it unforgettable.
Most honeymooners spend on their honeymoon 3 times what they would spend on an ordinary vacation. A few things to consider when planning;
There is a reason one hotel, resort, cruise or package may be priced less than another hotel, resort, cruise or package. That reason is supply and demand. When one is perceived to be better than another, the prices will usually will reflect that perception.
Get the room you want. You don’t go to the beach to look at the gardens, get the oceanfront or beachfront suite.
Stay longer. The effort and cost to get to your destination (whether driving or flying) is the same whether you go for 5, 6, 7 nights or longer so the longer you stay the less you end up spending per night. Additionally, many resorts will offer free nights for longer stays.
Get the all-inclusive package if available. Knowing the total cost of your honeymoon before will make your honeymoon even more relaxing and may allow you to budget for extras like spa treatments.
